Aims

Objective of the funding opportunity: To develop and improve local communities. This includes:
- Lifelong Learning - enhancing learning opportunities across all age groups and sectors. Examples include mainstream education, second chance education, special needs provision and life skills training
- Social Inclusion - bringing excluded people back into the community. Examples include the disabled, the elderly and ethnic minorities

The Foundation also provides funding for organisations promoting financial awareness and money advice and may provide funding for organisations working in the above areas to invest in new technology, for example through funding the development of internets, intranets or video-based technology.

Eligibility

Eligible Organisations:  Charitable and not-for-profit organisations. It is not neccessary to be a registered charity.
Criteria are designed so that HBOS Foundation's investment will leverage other funding, for example from the UK Government or European Commision, in order to maximise the impact of donations.

Accreditation Organisations must have the following accreditation to bid: No accreditation is needed
Amount available Funding available:
Over a 5 year period HBOS has earmarked £20 million for the Foundation to support community projects and charities.
In 2003, the Foundation awared grant payments of £1,864,542 to 416 successful applicants. £442,000 of this took the form of 6 large multi-year awards.
