Aims

Objective of the funding opportunity: Apprenticeships provide work based training to young people and adults who want to learn new skills and gain qualifications while working.
Apprenticeships and Advanced Apprenticeships (formerly known as Foundation and Advanced Modern Apprenticeships) are aimed at young people aged 16-24, and involve working and training with an employer and studying for other qualifications with a learning provider.
Young Apprenticeships (for 14-16 year olds) and Adult Apprenticeships (for over 25s) are also currently being piloted/ trialled in certain sectors.

It aims to help the following client groups:

Those with intermediate level skills

Eligibility

Eligible organisations: Employers with employees aged 16-24. Any staff aged 16-24 are eligible, whether they are existing employees or new recruits. Further details can be found on the Apprenticeships website.

Accreditation Organisations must have the following accreditation to bid: No accreditation is needed
Amount available Funding available:
The cost of the apprentice's training with their learning provider will be paid by the Learning and Skills Council.
In some cases the LSC may provide employers with financial assistance if there is an agreement in place to take on apprentices on a regular basis.
Most apprentices are employed by the business and paid a salary by their employer. However, in some cases apprentices will be on work placement with the business and get paid a training allowance by the LSC.
